Tackling Texas with Toddlers
(Caitlin) "Family" vacation is always so exciting! My best friend (more like sister) Christy and I have been vacationing with our parents, who also happen to be best friends, since I was in the 9th grade. We're the original 6!
We've taken some epic vacations and added a few members to the trips over the years.
First, Christy married Joe and gave me the brother I never had. Then Ryan came along. THEN Christy and Joe decided to have kids: Mac and Mia. Two perfect little balls of energy that are now my BFFs.
We're now the perfect 10!!
This was Mac and Mia's first flight and they did great!
Ryan and I landed in Austin an hour before the rest of the crew and enjoyed the calm before the storm. As soon as we connected at the airport, we realized how much luggage it takes for 8 adults and 2 kids to go away for a week.
The house was incredible! Mac's room had two sets of bunk beds. We each claimed a spot.
Lounging by the pool was so relaxing!
But just seeing all these amazing faces was the best part!
One of our first night's we made smores in the bonfire which was a hit!
Mom, Dad, Ryan, and I headed into Austin for an afternoon of lunch and some sight seeing. Juan in a Million was so delicious. We drove around downtown and then checked out the Texas State House.
We certainly didn't go hungry this trip! We wanted to try all the BBQ that Austin had to offer.
We had to continue the tradition of "Big Budda Nachos."
And OREOS! The kids even know that Oreos on vacation are mandatory!
We always have a "kids" night out, where Joe, Christy, Ryan, and I go out and leave the kids with the grandparents. This time we went downtown for dinner and drinks.
Dinner was at Licha's Cantina and was delicious! Super hipster and could have used a few more tattoos between us, but fun. Christy wanted to keep it classy with just one beer!
We continued the night at Whisler's then needed a donut snack before heading into Banger's Sausage House.
Over the week, we learned just how strong Mac and Mia's selfie game is. For 2 and 4 years old, I was impressed! They also have to check the photo after it's taken.
It was so amazing to spend so much quality time with my family, and I came home with some amazing new fridge art.
Until next time!
